Physical Media is So Back!

2025 is the year of physical media!!

I actually have a lot to say about this. I haven’t had the instagram app (or any social media) for almost two weeks now (though, I allow myself to check once in a while on the computer, which is only bearable for 5-10mins). it’s been incredibly refreshing. I feel that my mental capacity has widened. Generally, I feel more focused. I feel happier. I feel calmer in my boredom.

In order to break the social media addiction, I think replacements for entertainment are not just helpful, but beneficial. In deleting all entertainment I am no longer shown content rapidly by an algorithm designed to monetize my attention — I now choose from a smaller, more personal, more meaningful selection of music/CDs, movies, tv, books, etc. I also ask more people for recommendations rather than asking some soulless computer program. Plus, owning real media is actually cheaper in the long run than a million streaming services and app subscriptions.

And because I create as well, I’m more focused on drawing, journaling, lists, and creating books rather than web pages to showcase my art (more on that later!). Seeing less of the entire world’s art has made my art more unique to me, + I’m not comparing it to anyone else’s work.

highly recommend.
